Tahoe Release Available Now

FireScope Tahoe Release Announcement

To our valued customers,

FireScope is excited to announce the Release of FireScope’s  4.0.0 (Tahoe) Platform available for Customers to upgrade to as of June 2019. This Platform Release is packed full of new features, enhancements, security upgrades and performance improvements.

New Features

FireScope Platform

The FireScope Platform 4.0.0 release is the first phase in our evolution to help our customers resolve problems and perform tasks faster, while providing improved data insights, UI flexibility, and feature interconnectivity throughout the application. This first step begins with the SDDM product, delivering a modern user interface, and an enhanced backend code base shared with the SPM product.

Over the coming months, the SDDM and SPM products will become seamlessly integrated and modernized, while we continue to deliver completely new features, enhancements to existing features, and performance improvements all throughout the platform.

Benefits

  • Greater flexibility and access to more features
  • Reduced MTTR
  • Modern user interface
  • Streamlined workflows
  • Scalability and Performance improvements

Agentless Server Discovery and Monitoring

FireScope now offers agentless discovery and monitoring of MS Windows and Linux with the use of WMI and SSH to discover and monitor server assets.

Benefits

  • Reduces the need to have agents installed on every server to discover and monitor physical and virtual servers.
  • Faster deployments
  • Less administration overhead
  • Perfect for those servers that don’t require all the extra features the FireScope agents provide.
  • Mix and match agent and agentless discovery and monitoring.

Flow Noise Reduction

Network Flow contains lots of valuable information but it also contains a lot of noise. FireScope’s Flow noise reduction improves the signal-to-noise ratio decreasing the noise in the flows thereby decreasing the number of flows stored in the database.

Benefits

  • Identify new assets and changes to baseline maps faster
  • Significantly faster rules engine processing times
  • Support for Sflow, NetFlow, IPFIX

SNMPv3 Enhancements

Improved reliability and performance in SNMP polling using FireScope’s SNMPv3 enhancements.

Benefits

  • Greatly improves reliability and performance when using SNMPv3 for asset discovery and monitoring

What to expect

Here is what to expect when you login for the first time to the new FireScope 4.0.0 Platform Release for both SDDM and SPM Customers.

SDDM

On initial visit, you’ll find the new login screen for the application, with the option to treat the computer as public or private. If this is a private computer, your account & username will be stored in a cookie to ease your next login by only asking for your password (for non-SSO accounts). Once you enter, you’ll find that the navigation has moved to the left-side of the page, and reorganized into a familiar, yet more logical flow based on tasks to perform within the application.

  • Search across all of the configured components in your environment right from the navigation bar, and immediately jump to the item itself, or a handful of other related views.
  • Explore your environment data from different vantage points as you identify changes, anomalies, and the results of your discovery jobs.
  • Configuration of the main application components is centralized and organized into the sequence in which the environment should be configured for optimal use, starting with Edge Data Collection, Discoveries, and moving to more and more granular components for Configuration Admins
  • Administration of permissions, data migration & movement, and integrations is all centralized for FireScope Admins.
  • Settings for the application have been gathered from across the application and centralized into a single page to quickly manage the account-wide settings for various aspects of the application.

For pages where hierarchical navigation is important, an Omnibar will be presented across the top, indicating your selection of any:

  • Service Group / Logical Group / Configuration Item
  • Blueprint Group / Blueprint
  • Virtual Environment / Virtual Host / Virtual Guest and other relational models to come

In the top right of the page you’ll find icons to:

  • Submit feedback directly from the application
  • This will only work if outbound traffic is allowed in the environment, and does not replace Support Tickets, but goes directly to the developers to help improve the product
  • Link to documentation
  • View Notifications
  • Manage your User

In the bottom right of the page, Google Translate is now available to offer a more hands-off approach to translating the content of the page, where possible.

Additionally, you’ll find some new features and performance improvements like:

  • WMI Discovery Jobs, Credentials, & Attribute Support
  • SSH Discovery Jobs, Credentials, & Attribute Support
  • Added “Last Seen” timestamp to CIs found through Discovery Jobs
  • Performance improvements to reduce “noisy” Flow Collection
  • Performance improvements to Blueprint Linking
  • Various other bug fixes and performance tweaks

SPM

On initial visit, you’ll find the new login screen for the application, with the option to treat the computer as public or private. If this is a private computer, your account & username will be stored in a cookie to ease your next login by only asking for your password (for non-SSO accounts).
