Administering Your FireScope Appliance

Best Practice | Administration

The FireScope Unify appliance has a secondary interface specifically for administering the appliance itself. This interface can be accessed in one of two ways:

 

Steps to Access

  1. Log in to the FireScope Appliance Configuration interface, through one of two ways:
    1. If you are currently logged into FireScope as a FireScope Administrator, is by clicking on the Administration menu and selecting the last link, titled 'Appliance Configuration Wizard'.
    2. From a browser window type in the address of your FireScope appliance, and add :8004 to the end (e.g. http://192.168.0.1:8004)

The default login credentials for this interface are as follows:
Username : admin
Password : password

We strongly recommend changing the the admin password at your earliest convenience.

Virtually all of your routine maintenance tasks for your FireScope appliance can be completed from this interface. Use the following links for more information.

How to View FireScope Appliance Logs

The Appliance Logs page provides a window to view portions of log files on the appliance or to download the entire selected log. Use these logs to monitor appliance health, troubleshoot errors, and provide information for support personnel.

LDAP Authentication Configuration

FireScope has the ability to use Active Directory for user authentication. Once configured FireScope will forward authentication requests to Active Directory for verification. This allows users to login to the FireScope Unify Appliance using their Active Directory username and password.

Scheduling a Reboot

The Schedule Reboot page can be used to schedule a reboot for the appliance, or it can be used to reboot or shut down the appliance. Only one future reboot can be scheduled at a time.
