Requirements

  • You will need root access to the system you are installing the FireScope Agent on.
  • Ports 8042 and 8043 are utilized by the FireScope Agent and Server for communication. Please ensure that any local port filtering does not block traffic on these ports to ensure maximum effectiveness from your FireScope solution.

Installation

  1. Download the FireScope Linux Agent by:
    1. Logging into FireScope with Administrative privileges.
    2. Navigate to Administration->Data Retention & Misc.
    3. Using the drop down box at the top right of the screen, select Agents Admin. You will see a list of the agents that match your current version of FireScope Unify.  Please note, as FireScope Unify is updated, newer agents will be downloaded and added to this list.
  2. Extract the agent download to a temporary directory and navigate to this directory in a terminal session.
  3. To start the installation process, type rpm -ivh firescope_agent.tar.gz and hit enter.

    If it is successful you should see something similar to the following.
    sudo rpm -ivh FireScope_Agent_RedHat_Linux-3.5.0.3-10832.x86_64.rpm

  5. /opt/firescope/agent/conf/firescope_agentd.conf.
  6. The agent is now configured to start on system boot. To manually start the agent, issue the command /etc/init.d/firescope_agentd start.
