HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - August 05, 2008 -- FireScope, a leader in enterprise-level business service management (BSM) solutions, today announced that they have been named as finalist in InformationWeeks' first ever 2008 Start-Up of the Year contest. This nomination comes as FireScope surpasses 1,000 customers of its award-winning IT products. Winners will be given the opportunity to make their pitch in front of InformationWeek's CIO audience at the 2008 InformationWeek 500 conference in September.
The 2008 InformationWeek Start-Up of the Year award is a 'reader's choice' award format, where InformationWeek readers cast their vote for three of their favorite tech startups. Eligible companies include those who were profiled over the past year in InformationWeek's Startup City blog or interviewed on Startup City TV. The top six startups selected will then get five minutes to present their business case in front of more than 200 CIOs and other senior IT executives and a panel of CIO judges. Participating startups will focus talk on a required set of pain points IT professionals are struggling with today, and they'll be judged on the answers they provide. A winner will be selected by the editors of InformationWeek, taking into account the reader's survey, and named at the InformationWeek 500 conference in Monarch Beach, California September 14 through 16, 2008.
"It is an honor to be recognized as a 'Startup of the Year' finalist," said Mark Lynd, president of FireScope. "After a stunning year in which we saw our 1,000th customer, this acknowledgement is yet further validation that we are offering the very features necessary to simplify enterprise IT management and increase business productivity."
FireScope recently fundamentally changed the landscape of the IT solutions market by offering the first Business Service Management accessible for small to medium businesses. This is achieved by reducing the price of entry for BSM to only $2,450 and by delivering a self-service solution that does not require consultants or extensive training. FireScope is further distinguished by offering a free 28-day downloadable trail version; the first enterprise-grade solution to do so. Tucows.com has recently awarded two of FireScope's products, BSM: Business-Edition and FireScope Workbench a 5-Cow rating, with ease of use and quality of help information being critical factors in the decision.
