HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Aug. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Software solutions for IT operations within companies can often be pre-packaged, out of the box, one-size-fits-all products with limitations to the way they can respond to a company's strategic goals and growth. But one company is leading the way with a highly flexible and extensible solution that can change and grow as the company grows.
FireScope, a leading developer of Business Service Management software offering a real-time view of the health and security of IT Operations, today announced the release of the company's FireScope Business Services Management Solution Software Developer Kit (SDK).
"We like to think that the FireScope SDK provides the paint, the paintbrush and the easel that allows organizations to provide creative solutions that fulfill their unique needs," said Mark Ponthier, VP of Development for FireScope. "Over time, the FireScope solution can be enhanced and grow to meet the evolving requirements of an IT organization, helping them drive value well into the future."
The feature that places FireScope's SDK solution well above others like it is flexibility. The FireScope SDK allows developers to write portlets, or user interface components that are managed and displayed in a web portal, in a choice of languages including Java, PHP or Ruby, in a number of development environments such as Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, Sun Studio, Adobe Dreamweaver or a text editor. It is built around the JSR-168 specification, a convenient portlet programming model for developers.
The SDK also enhances Firescope's existing flexibility, exemplified in features such as user-customizable dashboards; a drag-n-drop report designer; technology agnostic data collection which results in the ability to collect security, performance and availability data from any networked asset; and an extensive menu of built-in-portlets such as Google Maps, Google gadgets, collaboration tools, multiple visualization portlets to view current and trending conditions of any aspect of IT operations; and more.
The Kit allows developers to integrate their own customer IT software into the Firescope interface, or blend data from security or business applications directly with FireScope's to generate unique views into the aspects of IT operations that are of most interest. Because FireScope handles much of the portlet layout and security, much of the programming effort is already handled before the development is even begun.
