Steven Cotton, CEO, Chairman, Founder
Steven Cotton is the Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder of FireScope. Steve's executive operating experience started as the CFO and Chief Development Officer for Panda Express. Steve and the other founders raised the growth capital, allowing the restaurant to grow from 5 to 300 restaurants in 5 years. After leaving Panda Express, Steve helped build an start-up automotive company to $100M in revenue in four years. Steve then served as the CEO and Strategic advisor to four technology startups, returning each company to profitability and significantly increasing revenues. Steve is also the co-founder of CDK Ventures, a Merchant Banking Investment fund focused on providing private equity and advisory services to technology companies and specializing in mergers and acquisitions. Steve's focus is to achieve value creation for shareholders by understanding his customers businesses and providing technology solutions to help them simplfy and improve their business models.
Michael Menegay, Board Member
Mike joined FireScope, a leading worldwide ITOM company, as its worldwide Chairman and CEO in March 2016 after serving on its Board of Directors since July 2015. In April 2018 Mike exited and remains a Director on the FireScope Board. Previous to FireScope, Mike was interim CEO & President of Encryptics, a leading cyber-security company where he was a Board Member for years. From 2012 to 2015 Mike was CEO of Oxygen Finance Americas, a payments processing company, acquired by Arrowgrass Capital Partners of London. Mike has held numerous Founder and CEO positions over the last 30 years, exiting four (4) as CEO to publicly traded companies. CEO of Mobile Armor, a data encryption software company, sold to Trend Micro in 2011; CEO of Software Medium, a security services firm sold to publicly-traded EnPointe Technologies in 2006; Founder & CEO of Channel Solutions Group, a 500-person channel sales outsourcing company, sold to publicly-traded Mosaic Group in 1998; and Founder & CEO of Computerland Texas, a $120M leasing and technology services firm sold to publicly-traded Vanstar in 1992.
C-Suite and General Management roles included SVP Business Development & Sales at The Future Now in 1993, SVP of Channels & Distribution at McAfee Security in 2001, WW SVP of Channels & Distribution and GM for Latin and South America at Macromedia in 2004; WW SVP of Sales, Channels & Distribution at Everdream in 2007; and, Dell's Worldwide Director of its Software as a Service (SaaS) Cloud organization in 2008 from Dell’s acquisition of Everdream. Mike started his career out of college with the IBM Corporation.
Mark Lynd, Board Member
Mark is the Co-Founder of FireScope, where he brings more than 25+ years of experience across technology, media and security sectors. Prior to FireScope he served as Global CTO at Lone Star Funds, a global private equity firm. Before Lone Star, Mark served five years as CEO of Vectrix, a venture-backed technology company and held executive and technology roles with Metromedia, GTE and Perot Systems. He served on several boards previously and has several industry certifications including CISSP, ISSAP, ISSMP and CEH. Mark was named an Ernst & Young's "Entrepreneur of Year - SW Region" Finalist previously. He holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa and served honorably in the United States Army's 3rd Ranger Battalion and the 82d Airborne.
Kevin Johnson, Board Member
Before joining FireScope, Kevin worked at Siebel Systems where he was a member of Siebel's Executive Committee and served as the head of Sales and General Manager of European operations. He also filled the roles of Senior Vice President of Business Development, Vice President of Legal Affairs and Chair of the Siebel Pricing Committee. As Siebel's chief legal officer, Kevin helped CEO and founder Tom Siebel take Siebel Systems public in June 1996. Prior to this, he held various management and legal positions in Gupta Corporation, NETg and National Education Corporation. Kevin was a Litigation Associate with the law firm of Schramm & Raddue in Santa Barbara California, and also served as Atrari Inc.'s first Law Clerk while attending the University of Santa Clara School of Law. Kevin also attended the University of California at Davis where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Agricultural Economics.
Steve Kalman, Board Member
Steve has an extensive 25+ year executive track record and reputation in the high-tech sector of leading and growing venture backed companies from early or mid-market stage to significant international enterprises. In that time, Steve has successfully led as CEO of such companies as Oculis Labs, Inc. (sold to Allied Minds: LSE); Advanced Interactive Systems (Acquired by Cubic: NYSE CUB); UltraDNS (sold to NeuStar – NSR NYSE); Softbank Content Services, Inc. (Acquired by iLogistix, and Naviant); and InterpriseNow! with exit values totaling greater than $450m. Steve has served as a director on 13 boards and currently serves on 3 including Parle Innovation, Firescope and Oculis Labs.
Alan Howe, Board Member
Alan has a broad business background and has been exposed to a wide variety of complex business situations within large corporations, financial institutions,
start-ups, small-caps and turnarounds. Currently, Alan is Managing Partner of Broadband Initiatives, LLC, a small boutique corporate advisory firm that he manages.
His specialty is in providing board and executive leadership working with small-cap and micro-cap companies, particularly in turnaround situations.
Over the last decade, Alan has served on 20 different public and private boards. Alan currently sits on the following boards: Vice Chairman of Determine
(Nasdaq: DTRM), and Chairman of Data I/O (Nasdaq: DAIO) and several private boards. Alan is also Interim CEO and Chairman of ALSC (OTCBB: ALSC).
Previously, Alan held executive positions with Covad Communications, Teletrac, Sprint and Manufacturers Hanover (now JP Morgan).
Alan holds a B.S.-Bus. Administration from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A.-Finance from the Indiana University Kelley Graduate School of Business.
Leanne Porter, Board Member
Leanne brings over twenty years of experience after founding and expanding two highly successful businesses. She built Pangea Systems from the ground up with no external funding into a $15mm leading ITSM consultancy operating in both the UK and North America. Previously, Leanne also co-founded Netman Limited in 1993, an IT services company focused initially on selling Novell Netware, and then LANDESK Software. In 1998 Netman Limited was acquired by Computerland UK, which later became part of the Capita Goup. Leanne has a proven track record of recruiting and retaining fantastically knowledgeable and motivated individuals, and a highly innovative management team, which makes for successful business growth and ethos.
